Vinayakar Chathurthi Celebrations
Vinayakar Chathurthi is one of the important religious and cultural celebrations observed by communities across Theni District. The festival is dedicated to Lord Vinayagar and is marked by special prayers, decorated idols, cultural activities and community gatherings. In preparation for the 2026 celebration, the Theni District Administration has issued official guidelines for Vinayakar Chathurthi celebrations, covering arrangements for the festival and responsible public celebrations. During the festival period, temples and community groups are expected to conduct special worship and cultural programmes. Public authorities also focus on maintaining law and order, managing traffic and ensuring that celebrations are conducted safely. Eco-friendly practices, proper handling of idols and responsible immersion arrangements are important parts of the festival management. The celebration provides an opportunity for residents and visitors to experience the religious traditions, cultural participation and community spirit of Theni. With preparations beginning ahead of the festival date, Vinayakar Chathurthi is one of the major upcoming events relevant to the district in September 2026.
